Growing up as a kid in the 70′s I loved Star Wars and I acted out the parts with my friends in the neighborhood and bought all the action figures and toys too.

If I only knew blowing up my action figures with firecrackers would dimish their value, I might have saved a few. But sadly, all those Kenner toys got wrecked in the pool, the sand, the dirt and with TNT. Plus I think a few are still buried in my back yard in some holes only to be found by someone years from now.

So I was surfing around, and found this brand new Documentary, made by Jambe Davdar, who is a fan of the Star Wars movies. It’s called Star Wars Begins.

Somehow, he got access to some pretty amazing scenes, audios and insights to how the first Star Wars movie was made, so he put together this incredible 14 part “filmumentary” as he would call it, so delight fans and show us the movie, plus how it was made all at the same time.

For fanboys and fangirls, you’ll probably spend two hours, like I did last night, watching all 14 videos.

For the love of the game, Jambe, did everything, with no compensation or permission from George Lucas.He spent his own money and time, hoping people would find as much joy in the motion picture, as he did.

Jambe also happened to make two other filmumentaries about the other 2 Star Wars movies, called, Building Empire and Returning to Jedi.

George Lucas would be an IDIOT if he does not reach out to Jambe and ask HIM permission to use his film to put into the soon to be released Blu-Ray version of the film. It’s better than any other documentaries out there.

I’ve got all 14 parts posted here for those who want to relive and see the first movie in all it’s fun with insights, not ever seen before. For fans, you’ll love knowing how this movie got made, and how it almost never got finished.

The ending is classic too, where you hear commentary from George Lucas talk about how he re-wrote his contract, and the studio did not care or pay attention to it… smart move George… smart move!

You’ll notice I use a lot of video posts in my blog and I’ve in the past used EZS3 Video players to host and wrap my mp4 video files on the websites I have.

But now, everything is changing because of Josh Bartlett’s easy video player pro.

Watch the video below as I interview Josh on what his video player does. Sorry, it’s kinda loud in the room we were talking in, but that’s ok, it’s still pretty easy to hear what we are talking about, if you listen closely.

Here is why I did that…

From 10 feet away, I found the audio reception on the flip was terrible! I could produce a great looking video but the audio certainly was hard to hear.

Then my friend, Mike Koenigs from Traffic Geyser (now with a $1 free trial), showed me the Kodak Zi8 HD Pocket Video Camera and the feature that sold me… EXTERNAL MIC INPUT.

The Kodak Zi8 HD Pocket Video Camera has a mic input for a small 1/8 inch mic jack.

I use the Audio-Technica ATR-35S Lavalier Microphone which is great because it has a 20 feet chord so I can stand far away and still get a great upclose sound into the video!

Editing with the Kodak Zi8 MOV Files with Vegas Movie Studio 9

Now, the thing about this camera is that is puts the video as a quicktime video. So, it’s hard to edit and render for pc users who are using Sony Vegas Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.

What happens when you import the MOV file in is that you’ll only see the video portion in the editing windows, but you will not see or hear any sound!

So, luckily, Sony just released a fix, which is pretty simple to do, if you just follow the instructions below.

Please check to see what version of QuickTime you have installed on the computer.  You can check this by launching QuickTime Player from the Start menu, then by going to Help > About QuickTime Player.  Do you have QuickTime version 7.6.4 installed?  If so, this is the reason for the problem.  Apple’s recent update to QuickTime introduced an interoperability problem with MP4 audio files within our software.  iTunes 9 and above require this new version of Quicktime so updating iTunes above version 8 will also cause this update to happen.

1. Close the program.

2. Download this file (qt7plug.dll).

3. Go to these files on your pc:  c:/Program Files/Sony/Product Name/FileIO Plug-ins/qt7plug and locate qt7plug.dll. Rename it to qt7plug.old.

4. Take the new qt7plug.dll file and insert it into the previous folder.

5. Launch the Sony Vegas Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 program.  Now the variations of MPEG-4 audio should play within the application.

If this does not work, or if you are using a different application, I recommend uninstalling Quicktime 7.6.4 and rolling back to the previous version, 7.6.0.  Keep in mind that if you allow iTunes to update to version 9 then Quicktime 7.6.4 will install.  If iTunes 9 is installed it can not function with Quicktime 7.6.0.

UPDATE:

Many have told me this method is not working for them.

Another tool I found that will work with the Zi8 is a Program called Magix Movie Edit Pro 16. They have the right codex to get it all working, and a trial to use their software to test it before you buy.
