If you want to make money with blog marketing, you need to blog about something you love.
If you think that seems a little sentimental for the dollars and cents world of marketing, think again. Why would your feelings make a difference? It’s really just about finding a good niche with the right numbers, right?
Wrong.
Again and again we’ve noticed that marketers who really care about their niches make more money than those who don’t. There are good reasons to choose a niche about which you feel passionate. Let’s look at a few of them.
Initially, those who love a niche are more likely to create quality content for their blogs. If you really know your topic, you’re less likely to supply inaccurate information. You’re also far more likely to create content that will connect with your blog’s readers. When you’re passionate, you’re simply a better all-around blogger and you’ll be better able to make money online.
Second, those who care about their niches are more likely to keep their blogs moving forward. Motivation is a critical part of internet marketing success and it’s much easier to find the motivation to work on a project that interests you than it is to labor on something that bores you to tears. Blogging involves more than a one-time effort. Success in blogging hinges on seeing projects through over a longer period. Failing to consider your passions can prevent you from seeing your blogging efforts through to the point of completion.
Third, working with your passions can kick open doors to other moneymaking opportunities. If you’re passionate about your niche, you’ll find new and exciting ways to expand your business that might otherwise pass unnoticed. If you’re not really interested in widgets, you’re not going to discover some great ways to maximize the value of your widget blog. You’ll overlook opportunities to interest, excite and motivate your readers. You’ll miss opportunities. If, on the other hand, you love your niche, you’ll be motivated to discover new and profitable ways to transform your business.
Finally, it’s fun. It’s simply more enjoyable to work on topics about which you care. We’re all interested in making money online. That doesn’t force us to think exclusively about monetary issues, however. Why shouldn’t we strive to make money and to have fun at the same time?
Consider your personal passions when choosing niches for blogging. Go beyond simply getting rid of options that are patently unappealing. Make a real effort to hone in on your personal passions. Keeping your passions in mind is one of the best things you can do for your business.
