You’ve probably heard how easy it is to start an affiliate business. And it is – sort of. There’s no doubt it’s easier than starting your own business. But “easier” doesn’t mean “easy”.

The bad news…

The worst part is that the information you’ve received is all wrong. The first thing you’re taught is to pick some great products. Next to pick your keywords carefully. Then to use keyword-based advertising to send visitors to the product. And just enjoy the commissions. But it doesn’t work.

Keywords are dead

There was a time when this worked. But it’s just too competitive to use keywords now. It’s time for a paradigm shift.

Start using CPA marketing

CPA stands for Cost Per Action. It’s far superior to product promotion. Because it doesn’t involve payment. Your commission is generated when they complete an “action”. Like completing a survey. Which is much easier than getting them to buy something.

Utilize demographics data

Keywords are no longer relevant (you’ll see in a minute). So spend your time doing demographics research. First, select the CPA offer you want to promote. Then go to a site like Quantcast.com. And research what kinds of people will be interested.

Use image ads

So far, you’ve got your CPA offer and your target demographics. You can advertise directly to them on display networks. Using image ads. And you don’t need to know or buy a single keyword. And you’ll save a fortune. Keyword ads are expensive, but image ads are still cheap.

In closing

This is truly a quick cash concept. Because you can start CPA marketing for free. It’s much cheaper to do image ads than keyword ads. You can use demographics to target your ideal prospect. And getting them to take an action is much easier than making a sale.
