I talk about this all the time in my coaching programs and trainings, that it is essential, if you want to break thru online, that you get known and find out who is known by going to big internet conferences.
There is nothing more intimate, than "pressing the flesh", (giving a handshake, or hug). Online, you cannot do that. So, the best way to make connection is by going to live events.
I made a video which you need to watch, which explains what the "Outsource Workshop" is.
I do live events and live learning events because it helps people connect in ways that the internet does not allow. I do teaching events to show people things that the internet just cannot show in a webinar setting.
Many of my personal email list and blog readers know I am an outsourcing maven. And because I love outsourcing so much, I created a course called Outsource Secrets Revealed, which I released in the spring of 2008.
I want to really help people with their internet marketing problems and give them solutions. I know by locking them up in a hotel conference room and putting them in there for a couple days, people will have the effect and impact that other live conferences have done for me. It will create breakthrus.
So, June 28 and 29, Saturday and Sunday, in Bloomington, MN, I am hosting the first ever "Outsource Workshop", that is limited to only 55 people and only 17 more seats are available.
Plus our room block is about to expire too, on June 14.
This workshop is the only internet marketing outsourcing workshop that I know of taking place anywhere in the world. And we'll have some great presenters and do live demos in the meeting rooms to get people the specific help they need to learn how to save time, and make more money by outsourcing to other people.
There is just so much to do online, and no one person should try to do it all by themselves and that is why I want to teach people how to connect with outsourcers and show them exactly how that works in this live workshop format.

Great post Jeff, I too am a fan of Gary Vaynerchuk (of course of yours too).
As far as networking and workshops go I would love to see a listing of sorts of all the shows and meetings for the IM world vs. getting information piecemeal and not having time to schedule enough in advance. I am still working full time elsewhere. Any suggestions?

Hey Abi,
see a need…. fill a need. I am not sure if there is a definitive seminar calendar website out there. I see many blogs which try to get a gob or upcoming seminars, but none are set up as the de-facto sites for announcing and keeping tabs with all the internet marketing seminars.
Maybe someone will make one?
Maybe someone already has?
Anyone know if this exists already?

Hey I completely agree doing anything face-to-face even if it is attending workshops or conferences or seminars or whatever is the best way to get contacts. Nothing beats the good old eyeballing the other person… nothing beats a warm handshake and eye to eye contact… and nothing beats the spontaneity that face-to-face contact can often bring. But for many of us it isn’t always possible … and thank God for the Internet!
