The Death of Network Marketing - Review and 2 Cents

(1) Comments So Far... What do you think? December 7, 2007

Here is my response to the Death of Network Marketing as reported by Ellie Drake and Mike Filsaime…. while they are “not selling” in the report, there is only like 3 pages worth reading in the whole thing…the rest is just trying to make a point for the “new ideas”. Which are not new.

I think most people, like when they hear something new will gravitate towards it and then after a while, it’ll fade away.

Ellie, you are a little late in the game trying to teach people how to use internet marketing to Network Marketers and all this hype is to sell a program or a training to people. Nothing wrong with that. I am sure you’ll do well. I know you had a lot of help from many people in the IM world and that’s cool too…

The knowledge here in your report is for internet newbies for sure. Pro NM’ers have been using the internet to generate leads for a long time. I started doing it in 2003 by creating the Who Is Page concept which attracted people into my businesses online. And later taught 1000’s the idea of marketing themselves first before they market any product or service.

What I found online is duplication is near impossible. People cannot duplicate all these systems and use all the tools. It’s too much. Too hard. Too much tech for the masses.

It ends up creating many self declared – ‘guru status’ NM’ers saying their skills and abilities to coach and train made them God’s gift to the world and so you needed to join their company to make money with them. This is on purpose and yes, it does make the “self proclaimed guru” a lot of money. I used it to sell almost $2 Million in MLM opportunities of the last several years. But not many of my team made much. Only a small handful. 10% made money.

I spent the last 4 years trying to teach online marketing to newbies in MLM and Network Marketing and ….

It did not work for the masses. Why?

Cause there are TOO MANY CHOICES for online advertising which instantly overwhelms and delays people from having quick success and keeps them in “learning mode” as opposed to “doing mode.”

After many weeks of studying methods the newbie simply ‘craps out’ with no more time cause it is taking to long to figure out the web 2.0 stuff since the internet and stuff on it is still brand new. Marketing is still brand new. Their passion is gone, sapped out and their drive to succeed which was strong in the beginning waned when they got busy getting busy instead of busy doing the work, like just picking up the phone and communicating to people through need based questioning, they dropped all activity and ceased working.

So the question is….

“can the masses duplicate internet marketing?” - And my answer is heck no.

Just like the information marketers who teach information marketing to people who sell products, only 10% of those who buy the product will make anything off it, while 2% may make a lot of money, most make some to a little and that’s all.

Like with ANY method of marketing and MLM or NM program, only 10% succeed and 90% fail.

So, teaching people to buy leads gets 10% who make it, 90% who fail.

Getting people to hit their warm market and contacts allows for 10% to make it, 90% to fail.

Getting people to do web 2.0 internet marketing to generate leads, will yeild 90% failures and 10% success.

It does not matter the method, there is always a low success rate. Does that mean we don’t market knowing 90% fail? Does that mean we stop recruiting knowing hardly any people make it?

No, let me give you an example….

How are we different than colleges or universities which educate doctors? Did you know only 10% of doctors get jobs and make it out of their 10 year study periods?

Wow, imagine that?

Did you know in High School and College only 10% or less in your average core classes ever got A’s?

It’s what I call the law of being human. It will not change, unless human beings change.

So like the medical schools, we keep recruiting hoping to find as many 10%’ers as possible to get as many people having success as possible. The Medical Schools now the failure rate, yet they keep bringing in more students hoping a few will make it out and do good.

Here is my opinion… Internet Marketing  wont work for the masses… Ddon’t buy into the hype the “death of NM” report spews out. In the end, they just want to sell an information product. Not in the report, but later on…

So….if internet marketing is not the answer, what does work?

Mindset, belief, skill set and self development - if you knew that you could not fail in your company no matter what method you tried, would you do it? Of course.

That’s all the belief one needs to move forward then using any tool or system. Belief, with skill set and self development will make you successful. Tools are just that… tools. And Most tools are too confusing for average people to understand.

All the “automation” people are really looking for is a symptom of the “lottery mentality” inside of people.

“show me the quickest laziest and least painful way to make money and I’ll do it, especially if you can do almost all of it for me.”

“I don’t want to speak to people, I don’t want to make calls, I just want money in my bank account,” is their mantra.

I used to be in programs and helped create systems that preyed on this type of mentality. But I stopped, cause with the lottery mindset where people build it and hope people come, most people never actually build it cause they are too busy learning 100 ways to build it and get people to come. Soon, their focus escapes them and 2 months later they have not talked to a single prospect cause they are waiting for this or that or going through this home study course and waiting to get through it to learn how to build a website. Paralysis of analysis kicks in.

The real secret is self development.

If you study the old days of NM from just a year or so ago, before all the video, youtube, social bookmarking, tagging, digging, etc… It really did help a person have better confidence to spend time studying behavior and to learn why people buy and how to evoke curiosity in others whether they were a cold or warm market lead.

People who study people soon learn what makes people tick and through self development and by acquiring new skill sets in basic communication and relationship concepts a person has a much better and quicker path to success.

Instead of trying to generate their own leads, use a lead vendor with good leads. There are still plenty of good leads out there for the masses. You just have to know what to say and how to speak to a person’s genuine need to make them successful.

Most people don’t have these skills naturally, so, they must invest time to develop them. I think Dani Johnson is one of the best at teaching people these new skill set which she empowers people with.

I can have a prospect with a script in a hand, within 72 hours of joining my program, making money. Why? Cause all they have to do is just read a script, by some leads and do the work. Now that is simple to duplicate.

Advertising company do all the internet marketing for you, creating leads, and you just buy as many as you can handle and them get on the phone and talk to people.

Talking to people is natural, and yes, many people don’t know how to do it, so by going to a Dani Johnson seminar, they can learn.

The next big challenge is how to handle your time on the phone.

Most people simply have given up on phone calling cause they are sick of 75% of all the dials going to bad #’s, answering machines, disconnected #’s and numbers that ring on and on with no voicemails.

Dial after dial, leaving countless messages, hearing many no answers and getting busy signals is very frustrating, especially when you have dialed for a few hours and only had a serious conversation with 3 people the whole time.

But even that can now be solved by systems like Citalink Live Caller with www.goldmillscalling.com. Citalink calls leads, and allows for you to only speak to live people who are home. You’ll  never have to speak to answering machines, listen to busy signals or hear this # is no longer in service. No more keeping lists and pages of notes cause there is an online contact manager that does it, integrated right into the system. No more will you have to look at a lead sheet and dial #’s pushing buttons trying to dial the correct #, hoping you did not misdial. The system dials the correct # for you by dialing it off a list you provide of leads in Comma Separated Values.

So, ya… I am trying to sell something in this reply… so is everyone else and it’s not for everyone so don’t look at it if it is not for you in the first place. Then again it might be the tool you have been looking for which will allow you to talk to more people.

Just pick up the phone and talk to people. Learn how to read a script, learn the inflections, cadences and posture on the phone and you’ll do well in your program.

If you find spelling errors and grammar mistakes, who cares, it was super late when I wrote this and I am tired, hopefully you get the idea.

Internet marketing is super for selling products, linking people to solutions for satisfying needs by allowing people to ‘buy’ solutions, but when it’s done with Network Marketing, and in a way which is supposed to be duplicatable, it fails using Internet marketing techniques cause they are not so duplicatable.

For whoever is reading this… If you don’t already have a primary company and business opportunity but you are looking for one… don’t buy into the hype. You going out and doing all the marketing on the internet is not the solution. That just keeps you busy learning instead of doing. And it wastes your money on program which in the end might not be the immediate solution but will be later on… When you become successful and HAVE the money.

With our program, we outsource lead generation and then our advertising company does all the web 2.0 stuff for us so we get a lead ready to be spoken to in real time. What is the best lead you can ever ever ever get… Some would say a lead you generate yourself.

That’s close a lead you generate yourself might be good if they like you and that is why they gave you their information, but a lead is a good lead if they are STILL ON YOUR WEBSITE when you call them, steaming hot, with hot steam coming off them like a newborn baby just being born.

A lead on your site is a hot lead that should be called immediately and taken through a process with posture and skill. As I mentioned, most people just need to develop that skill with Dani Johnson and  www.Danijohnsonseminar.com. I am sure Ellie’s seminars are cool and all, but I think she does not come from the same spiritual place Dani does, which I think is essential to check into.

So, back to our system. You can get real time leads that end up on your site at www.goldmillsmarketing.com or www.snapresponse.com.  I don’t care which one you use, but if you use snap response, they’ll import your leads into your contact manager and autoresponder for you to do the follow-up, which is really cool.

Then, you grab your script, and call people and talk to them, or you turn on the www.goldmillscalling.com feature and let it do the dialing for you…. does not matter, just DO SOMETHING.

I have sold almost $2 million online for a reason, I take action - Action creates Momentum, Momentum creates results and results create money.

If you have not checked out Decide Freedom International and our simple to follow, NON INTERNET MARKETING CONFUSION SYSTEM, then have a look see.
